Andrea Morris is the Beverage Director of Union Square Cafe. In her role, Andrea oversees the restaurant’s wine and cocktail program which nods to the restaurant’s storied past as well as its future with a focus on up and coming vintners, wineries, and distilleries.Born and raised in Oakland, California, Andrea first joined the hospitality industry while in high school but was introduced to the dynamic world of wine after enrolling in the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and taking a course on the subject. In 2011, Andrea graduated from CIA with an associate degree in culinary arts and a bachelor’s degree in hospitality. Following graduation, Andrea went on to work in some of New York’s most prestigious restaurants first starting at the 3 Michelin Starred Eleven Madison Park. From there, Andrea went to work at Oceana, Jean-Georges, and then served as the opening Beverage Director of Nix which received a Michelin Star within its first year. Most recently, Andrea was the opening Beverage Director of Intersect by Lexus where she curated distinct beverage programs specific to each restaurant-in-residence’s region.
In addition to gaining experience within some of New York’s top restaurants, Andrea joined the Court of Master Sommeliers after passing the Advanced Sommelier Examination in 2013. She was also featured in Zagat’s 30 Under 30 List in 2016 and was named StarChef’s Rising Star Somm in 2017. Most recently, Andrea was named of one Wine Enthusiast’s 40 Under 40 Tastemakers of 2019.
